The bottom line is that if you are translating MadCap Flare, Mimic, or Capture files Lingo makes the process much more efficient. Lingo supports its own Translation Memories and Termbases and also supports TMX (Translation Memory eXchange format) and TBX (TermBase eXchange format) so you can import and export existing TM’s and Termbases. These are public versions, so users must be aware that their content is being streamed over the internet, and thus security may be an issue. Lingo 9 gives users access to three publicly available MT sources: Google, Bing and MyMemory. Totals from the statistics created in Lingo dont match the ones created after a bundle. Basically, the use of Contributor allows you to output a project package to someone who doesn’t own Flare (and now Lingo) to review content and make changes or suggestions. During the entire process Lingo keeps track of the status of each translation candidate and helps track the progress of the project. MT is being increasingly used as a productivity enhancer for translators. Whats new in MadCap Lingo 9.0.0: We should have a functionality similar to SDLX QA Check. Details on MadCap Lingo including translator reviews, system requirements, price information, file formats and more. MadCap has now extended the functionality of the Contributor module to Lingo Contributor has been around for some time in conjunction with Flare. Once the files are translated, the files can then be zipped and easily imported back into Lingo for the project to be updated, then exported back into Flare to generate the final translated output. The translator can either use Lingo directly to translate the files or the files can be translated with another CAT (Computer Aided Translation) tool of choice. Lingo imports Flare projects and then in a clear interface displays all of the translation candidate files, (and even the number of segments in each), and allows you to select them and bundle them to send to a translator to for translation. If you are using MadCap and plan on translating your outputs then MadCap Lingo is a must.
